Counselling for individuals

Life can be overwhelming – perhaps you need some tools to cope?

Do you need help navigating interpersonal relationships?

Are old wounds lingering or being played out in the present?

Individual counselling can help with trauma, anxiety, building self-esteem, self-development, processing old wounds, self-advocacy, and more. Exploring thoughts and feelings around the issues can provide clarity, a sense of meaning and personal growth. At the Reparative Room, I can offer this, in a safe, non-judgmental space.

Your questions answered

For individual counselling, the first session will be an initial assessment. I will ask for information about current concerns, life history and the goals you have for counselling.

Sessions are 50-60 minutes in length.

During your initial assessment we will discuss your goals, and from this we can collaboratively decide how often you come for sessions. During counselling I will regularly check in and discuss how the counselling is going, and if the frequency of sessions fits.

Individual counselling duration varies. I work at the client’s pace, so for some individuals it may be very clear from the start what the problems are, and they may be able to work through them within a shorter period. For others, there may be more complexity. For issues like trauma, PTSD, depression and dependences, it may take longer. It is common to have a period of regular counselling, with the sessions then becoming less frequent until eventually an odd session sporadically is sufficient for the client.

Yes. All sessions are confidential, meaning that I will not share any information provided by you to a third party without prior permission from you, unless I feel that you are a risk to yourself, or others. Or, when required by law. Where possible I will inform you first, should I need to breach confidentiality. In line with GDPR regulations, the information you provide to me will be kept in a secure filing system, accessed only by me. Please note that in accordance with the terms set out by The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, my work is supervised. My supervisor’s role is to ensure that I am working ethically and professionally. Any work which I discuss with my supervisor remains confidential.

The counselling can be online or in person. The in-person sessions take place on a quiet tree-lined road in Camberley, Surrey, with easy and free parking. Individuals and couples can feel confident that the space is safe, comfortable and private to talk through issues and challenges, and it is conveniently located for clients coming from Frimley, Farnborough, Sandhurst, Bagshot, Lightwater, Yateley, Fleet and the surrounding areas.
