I worked as a personal trainer and Pilates teacher for 20 years. I enjoyed teaching, but was just as interested in the people I met. I got to hear about their lives, their ups and downs and I realised that I love to listen. I decided to train as a counsellor.
I threw myself in at the deep end and now, with a background of working in Domestic violence, drug and alcohol dependency and rape and sexual assault, I can provide a safe space to work through the trauma and turmoil.
I have helped many people discover themselves again by working through life’s obstacles, challenging negative thought patterns, constructing effective communication skills, and helping to process and navigate any challenges which are past and present.
I work pluralistically with clients, which means I recognise that different therapeutic approaches will suit different clients, at different stages of counselling. For couples counselling, my approach is primarily Psychodynamic, as it analyses primary, familial relationships and other past relationships which ‘play out’ in the present.
It means a lot to me to provide a space at The Reparative Room in Camberley, Surrey, for people to feel safe with me, and let me into their unique perspective and experience.
